Madmoiselle

That is a delightful scenario.  Very much gives me the impression of the mademoiselle being a dark power behind the throne as they say. A Lady who can make things happen -- iF there is something in it for her. One and all posturing for her time and possible favors as they line up to petition her at the grand ball. Hoping that if their proposal has merit, that she might discreetly slip them a token of her favor.
